In brief
Before the formal wording, here is what matters most.
- This app plays a loud tone on purpose. Sound can damage hearing. Never hold the device near your ear while a tone is playing, never use headphones or earbuds with it, and start quietly.
- It may not get the water out, and it cannot dry the rest of your device. Water left inside can still cause corrosion and failure later. Follow your device manufacturer’s official guidance and get a wet device checked by a qualified repair service.
- Loud low-frequency sound puts a small speaker under strain. Keep sessions short and stop if the sound distorts.
- Paid plans renew automatically until you turn auto-renewal off in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you already paid for.
- Apple and Google take the payment, and Apple and Google handle refunds. We cannot issue a refund for a store purchase.
- Nothing here removes your legal rights as a consumer. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says cannot be excluded.
Who these terms are between
These Terms are an agreement between you and WaterEject.org. In them, “we”, “us” and “our” mean WaterEject.org.
“The Service” means all of the following together: the iOS application “Water Eject°” on the Apple App Store, the Android application “Water Eject: Speaker Cleaner” (package com.water_eject.speaker_cleaner) on Google Play, and the website at watereject.org including its blog and the 165 Hz tone player on the home page. Where something applies only to the apps, or only to the website, we say so.
By downloading, opening or using the apps, or by using watereject.org, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you buy a subscription, you agree to these Terms again at the moment you confirm the purchase.
How we handle data is explained separately in our Privacy Policy .
Safety and what this app does not do
This section is important. Please read it before you use the app.
Hearing
The app deliberately plays a continuous 165 Hz tone through your device speaker, and it works best at high volume, which means it can be genuinely loud. Sound at high volume can damage hearing, and low-frequency sound is easy to underestimate because it does not feel as sharp as it is.
Do not hold the device near your ear while a tone is playing. Do not use the app with headphones, earbuds, or any device worn in or on the ear. Do not use it near a sleeping person, a baby, a person wearing a hearing aid, or anyone who cannot move away from the sound. Start at a low volume and increase it gradually only if you need to. Stop immediately if you notice discomfort, ringing, or muffled hearing. You choose the volume and the length of the session, and you are responsible for those choices. You agree to follow the safety instructions shown inside the app.
Your speaker and your device
Playing loud low-frequency tones puts a small phone or tablet speaker under mechanical strain. Long or repeated sessions at maximum volume can distort or damage a speaker driver, particularly on an older device or one that is already faulty. We cannot test every device model and we do not guarantee that the app is safe for every device. Use the shortest session that works, do not run the tone continuously for long periods, and stop if the sound crackles, buzzes or changes character. Using the app may fall outside your device manufacturer’s warranty; check with them if that matters to you.
It is not a repair, and it is not a guarantee
The app is a tool that may help move water out of a speaker cavity. It is not a repair service, a drying system, or a guarantee. It cannot remove water from anywhere other than the speaker opening — not from the charging port, the SIM tray, the camera housing, the internal boards or the battery. It may not remove all the water even from the speaker.
If your device has been in water, damage may already have been done, and running a tone does not reverse it. Water left inside can cause corrosion, short circuits, sound faults and permanent failure, sometimes days or weeks later. Do not treat a good-sounding result as proof that your device is dry or safe to charge. Follow your device manufacturer’s official guidance for liquid exposure, do not charge a device that may still be wet, and have it checked by a qualified repair service. Using this app is not a substitute for any of that.
Not a medical or veterinary product
The tones are not a medical device and are not a treatment for tinnitus, hearing conditions, anxiety, sleep problems or any other condition. Relaxation and meditation uses are for general wellbeing only. Tones intended for animals are not a substitute for professional animal training; do not use them at close range to any animal, or where an animal cannot move away from the sound.
In short: use the app at your own risk, sensibly, and at a volume you have chosen deliberately. Nothing in this section limits the responsibility we accept in “Limits on our responsibility” below, which sets out the things we do not attempt to exclude.
Licence and restrictions
We give you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non-sublicensable licence to install and use the apps on devices you own or control, and to use the website, for your own non-commercial purposes. On Apple devices this licence is also subject to the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions, including the Family Sharing rules. We keep ownership of the Service; this is a licence, not a sale.
You must not: copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the apps; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble them, except to the extent that right cannot lawfully be excluded; extract, re-record, resell or redistribute the tones or audio assets, including repackaging them into another app or a media upload; bypass, disable or tamper with any free-usage limit, paywall or subscription verification; use bots or scrapers on watereject.org other than well-behaved search engine crawlers; or remove any notice of ownership.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to harm, alarm or harass anyone. Do not play tones at another person, an animal, or a group without their knowledge and agreement. Do not use the Service while driving or operating machinery. Do not use it in a way that breaks noise laws or the rules of a venue you are in. Do not interfere with the security or operation of the Service.
Eligibility and age
The apps carry an all-ages store rating and anyone may play the tone. You may only enter into a contract with us — that is, buy a subscription or any other paid item — if you are old enough to do so where you live, and only the account holder, or somebody with the account holder’s permission, may buy one.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We do not offer personalised advertising to anyone under 16, or under the higher age of digital consent set by the country where they live. If you are under 18, use the Service with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The same wording appears in our Privacy Policy , and neither document sets a different age from the other.
Parents can restrict purchases using Screen Time and Ask to Buy on iOS, or parental controls in the Google Play Store on Android. If a purchase was made on your account by a child without permission, contact Apple or Google, because they process refunds.
Subscriptions and payments
The iOS app offers optional paid subscriptions, currently sold as a weekly plan and a yearly plan. The Android app offers optional in-app purchases; what is available to you, and whether it is a subscription or a one-off purchase, is shown on the purchase screen inside the app before you confirm. Paid access is sold only through the App Store and Google Play, and we will never ask you for card details.
While a paid subscription is active you get unlimited use of the 165 Hz water-ejection tone and the other tone generator functions, without the daily usage limit that applies to the free version, and advertising is removed. The free version limits how much you can use the tone generator in a day; the current limit is shown in the app before you reach it, and we will tell you what it is at support@watereject.org if you would rather know before installing.
The weekly plan runs for one week from the date of purchase and renews weekly. The yearly plan runs for twelve months and then continues automatically.
Automatic renewal, and the limits on it. Unless you turn auto-renewal off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription continues and your account is charged within the 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price of the plan you selected. If you are a consumer in Germany, or in any other country whose law limits automatic renewal, a yearly plan does not renew for a further fixed twelve months: after the initial twelve-month term it continues on an indefinite basis and you may cancel at any time on one month’s notice, at no penalty, through your store account. Where your local law is stricter than what is described here, your local law applies.
Price. The price of each plan, in your local currency and including any taxes the store adds, is shown on the purchase screen inside the app and on the App Store or Google Play product page before you confirm, together with the length of the period it buys. That displayed price is the price you pay, and no purchase is completed until you have seen it and confirmed. Prices differ between countries and between plans, which is why they are shown to you at the point of purchase rather than fixed in this document; if you want the current figures before installing, email support@watereject.org and we will send them.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account on iOS, or to your Google Play account on Android, when you confirm the purchase. The store is the seller and processes the payment. We never see or handle your card details.
Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it starts when you activate it and runs for the length shown on the purchase screen, which also shows the price you will be charged when it ends, how often that charge repeats, and how to cancel. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically into a paid subscription at that price. If you buy a subscription while a free trial is still running, any unused part of that free trial is forfeited. Trials are limited to one per Apple Account or Google Play account, and eligibility is decided by the store, not by us.
Where the law requires a reminder — for example, in California and several other US states, before a free trial longer than 31 days converts to a paid subscription, and between 15 and 45 days before a subscription of a year or longer renews — we send you one, telling you the amount that will be charged, the date, and how to cancel. Apple and Google may send reminders of their own as well. If you are unsure whether a trial is running, check Subscriptions in your device settings.
How to cancel. On iOS: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select Water Eject°, then Cancel Subscription. On Android, if you have bought a subscription: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select Water Eject: Speaker Cleaner, then Cancel. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription and does not stop billing. We cannot cancel a subscription on your behalf — only the store can.
Cancelling turns off future renewals. It does not end a period you have already paid for: you keep access until that period runs out, and the store does not pro-rate a part-used period. This does not affect any statutory right of withdrawal or refund you have as a consumer.
Price changes. We may change prices. If we do, the store will tell you before the change takes effect and will either ask you to accept the new price or give you the opportunity to cancel first, depending on the size of the change. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before the next renewal.
Refunds
All payments are taken by Apple or Google, not by us, and all refunds are handled by them under their own policies. We cannot issue, reverse or guarantee a refund for a store purchase, and we have no access to your payment details.
- iOS: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Android: use the refund process in your Google Play order history, or at support.google.com/googleplay.
If you tell us about a billing problem at support@watereject.org we will help you find the right route and will support a reasonable refund request with the store, but the decision is theirs. None of this limits any refund or remedy you are entitled to by law.
Your right to change your mind (EU and UK)
If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you have 14 days to withdraw from a digital purchase. Because your subscription is bought from and supplied by Apple or Google, they are the seller and they operate this right.
You lose that 14-day right only if all of the following happened before supply began: you expressly asked for the content to be supplied straight away, you expressly acknowledged that asking for that ends your withdrawal right, and you were given confirmation of both on a durable medium such as an email or a receipt. Those are three separate things, and a purchase button on its own is not any of them. If the purchase screen you used did not ask you both of those questions separately, your 14-day right is intact and you can use it.
To exercise the right, or to ask for a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com or the Google Play refund process. Tell us at support@watereject.org if you have difficulty and we will support the request with the store.
Advertising
The free versions of both the iOS and the Android apps are supported by advertising. Adverts are supplied by third-party advertising networks; we do not choose the individual adverts you see. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom we ask for your consent before showing personalised adverts, and on iOS Apple also asks you separately through its tracking permission prompt. If you decline, the app works exactly the same, and what you see is chosen without a profile of you. Adverts are removed while you have an active paid subscription. We are not responsible for the content of adverts or the sites they link to; report anything harmful to support@watereject.org and we will pass it to the network. The watereject.org website carries no advertising.
Intellectual property
We own or licence everything in the Service: the app software, the tone generator and its audio output, the design, and the text and images on watereject.org including the blog articles in every language. You may read our articles and share links to them, and quote short extracts with a credit and a link, but you may not republish whole articles or use our name or logo as your own.
No user content
The Service does not accept user content. There are no accounts, no profiles, no uploads, no comments and no forums, so you do not post anything to us and we do not host anything from you. The only thing you send us is any email you choose to send to support@watereject.org . If we ever add a feature that accepts user content, we will update these Terms and tell you before it goes live.
Third-party services and links
The Service depends on services we do not control: the App Store and Google Play, the advertising and analytics providers built into the apps, and, on the website, a content delivery network that serves icon files and a privacy-focused analytics service hosted in the European Union. Our blog also links to other websites. We do not control those services or sites, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content or their own privacy practices. Their own terms apply when you use them.
Availability and changes to the Service
Apart from the rights the law gives you, the Service is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, error free, or compatible with every device or operating system version. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and we may stop supporting older devices or operating systems.
Nothing in this section takes away rights you have as a consumer.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom, the law requires digital content to be of satisfactory quality, fit for the purpose it is described for, and as described. We cannot contract out of that and we do not try to.
If you are a consumer in the EU, the rules implementing Directive (EU) 2019/770 give you the right to have digital content that does not conform to the contract brought into conformity free of charge and within a reasonable time. If we do not do that, you are entitled to a proportionate reduction in the price or to end the contract and get a refund. For at least one year after supply, if the digital content is faulty it is for us to prove it was conforming, not for you to prove it was not. You have these rights whatever else this document says, exercising them costs you nothing, and you cannot be asked to give them up.
Limits on our responsibility
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit or business, arising from your use of the Service. If you are using the Service for business purposes, that also covers loss of data. Where we are liable, our total liability to you for all claims arising in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid for subscriptions or other in-app purchases through the app stores in that period.
These limits never apply to the following. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights, and any term a court finds unfair does not bind you while the rest of the Terms continue to apply.
These limits also never apply to any liability we have under product liability law — including the EU product liability rules that expressly cover software, and the Consumer Protection Act 1987 in the UK — for damage caused by a defect in the app, covering personal injury, damage to your property, and destruction or corruption of your data. That liability cannot be excluded or limited by agreement, and we do not attempt to.
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom and our app damages a device or other digital content belonging to you, and that damage would not have happened if we had used reasonable care and skill, you are entitled to have the damage repaired or to be compensated. We cannot contract out of that, and nothing above attempts to. Consumers elsewhere have equivalent or stronger protections under their own national law, and those apply too.
Your responsibility to us
This section applies only if you use the Service for business purposes. If you do, and you use it in a way that breaks these Terms or the law, and that causes someone to bring a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages we have to pay because of it, to the extent they were caused by your own breach or unlawful act.
If you are a consumer, you do not indemnify us for anything. Our rights against you are only whatever the general law gives us.
Termination
You can stop using the Service at any time by deleting the apps — remember to cancel any subscription separately, as described above. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we must for legal or security reasons, or if we discontinue the Service. If we end your access for a reason that is not your fault while you have a paid subscription running, you can ask Apple or Google for a refund of the unused part and we will support that request. The sections on intellectual property, safety, disclaimers, limits on our responsibility and governing law continue to apply afterwards.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example if we add a feature, change how subscriptions work, or the law changes. The date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or on the website before it takes effect. Changes are not retrospective and do not affect a subscription period you have already paid for. If you do not accept a change, stop using the Service and cancel your subscription before the next renewal.
Governing law and disputes
We have not tried to impose a particular country’s law on you. If you are a consumer, these Terms are governed by the law of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country; those protections apply whatever else this document says.
If you are not a consumer, you and we will first try to resolve any dispute by agreement. If we cannot, the dispute may be brought in any court that has jurisdiction under the applicable rules of private international law. If any part of this section cannot be applied, the rest of these Terms still stand.
If something goes wrong, please email support@watereject.org first and give us a chance to fix it. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK and we cannot resolve matters between us, you can take the matter to the consumer dispute resolution or consumer advice body in your own country.
Severability, entire agreement and other points
If any part of these Terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, that part is treated as removed and the rest continues to apply, replaced where possible by the closest valid meaning that keeps the original intention.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy , are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. They do not replace the terms of the App Store or Google Play, which apply to your purchases as well, and they do not affect your rights as a consumer. Nothing in this section limits our responsibility for anything we told you about the Service that was untrue, whether we said it dishonestly, carelessly or in good faith, and nothing in it stops you relying on what we said in the app stores or on watereject.org when you decided to install or subscribe.
We may transfer these Terms to another operator of the Service, for example if the Service is reorganised or sold; if we do, your rights are not reduced and we will tell you in the app or on the website. You may not transfer your rights to anyone else. If we do not enforce a term straight away, that does not mean we give up the right to enforce it later.
These Terms are published in English, German, French and Spanish. If you would like them in another language, email support@watereject.org .
App Store terms
This section is our end-user licence for the iOS app, and applies in addition to everything above.
This agreement is between you and us only, not Apple, and we alone are responsible for the app and its content. The licence granted above is a non-transferable licence to use the app on any Apple-branded product you own or control, subject to the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, including Family Sharing. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that the app or your use of it infringes intellectual property rights or fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, including product liability, consumer protection and privacy claims. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and that you are not on any US Government prohibited or restricted party list. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app. Our contact point for questions about the app is support@watereject.org . Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement and, on your acceptance of it, Apple has the right to enforce it against you.
Contact
Questions about these Terms, the apps, a subscription problem or a privacy request: email support@watereject.org . We read every message and reply as soon as we reasonably can. For refunds, renewals and billing, Apple or Google will usually answer faster, because they took the payment.
